On Saturday 4th November Camborne Town Band competed at the South West Brass Band Association Championships at the Riviera Centre in Torquay. There was a great deal of support for this contest this year especially in the Open Section with 12 bands competing against each other. Each band were able to choose the piece that they would be performing. Camborne chose Paganini Variations by Philip Wilby.
Musical Director Kevin Mackenzie said: "Paganini Variations will always remain a real favourite with players and audiences alike. It is still a very good test even though written some 25 years ago. On the day, the bands performance was outstanding, which was the result of a lot of hard work. I really wanted the band to finish their contesting year with a solid performance and they did just that!".
Everyone at Camborne Band would like to thank everyone for their kind comments and messages and are now looking forward to the next season of contesting.
