Puffing Devil to be heard at Trevithick Day

Christopher Bond's tribute to the great locomotive inventor, Richard Trevithick, will be heard in Cornwall later this month. The young Cornish composer and former Camborne Youth Band member, Christopher, is busy preparing six local bands, together with a choir of over 150 school children from nine primary schools, for the premier performance of his work ‘The Puffing Devil’.

Fittingly, the work will form part of the 30th Trevithick Day, a one-day festival of free entertainment held in Camborne each year to celebrate the life and work of the famous Cornish locomotive inventor Richard Trevithick.

Joining Camborne Band and Camborne Youth Band for this world premiere are Lanner & District Silver, Helston Town, Pendennis Brass and Heyl Town, who will also play a new march entitled, ‘Trevithick’ through the town before coming together with the choir for a massed premiere performance. This year Trevithick Day will fall on 27th April and promises to be a great day for all involved in its 30th anniversary year.
