John Berryman to lead Camborne Band

John Berryman will make a return to one of his former bands to lead them at the Spring Festival Contest. The Camborne Band has announced that John Berryman has agreed to take them to the forthcoming Spring Festival at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool in May.

John has a long and distinguished association with the band dating back to 1959 when as a young man he moved from his native Cornwall to join the then Munn and Felton works band. In 1960 John became the principal cornet of the band, a position he held until his playing retirement in 1969. In those ten years John played in 3 winning National Brass Band Championships performances, also leading the famous GUS Quartet to 3 National Titles. Currently the Professional conductor of the Virtuosi GUS Band in Kettering, Camborne is very pleased that John has agreed to lead the band in the Senior Trophy this year.
