Festival of Brass

On Saturday 1st February, the band took part in the Cornwall Brass Band Association's annual 'Festival of Brass'.

19 Cornish bands took to the stage in St Michael's Church in Newquay, each performing a 25 minute set. The band played:

• 'Where Eagles Sing'
• 'In Christ Alone' - performed by the band's euphonium soloist, John Hitchens
• 'The Old Rugged Cross' - featuring a quartet, and our trombone section
• 'In Perfect Peace' - played in memory of Becki Richards, a well-loved Cornish bandsperson, who sadly passed away in November
• 'Tocatta in D Minor' - heavily featuring our percussion section

The band was also pleased to be awarded the Chas Welsh Cup by the CBBA, for our success in the Championship Section over the past year.

The band is proud to have taken part in such a special day for Cornish brass banding, where it was brilliant to see just how strong the movement is here in Cornwall.

A massive well done and thank you to all of the organisers for a well run, innovative day of music!
