60 players entered this year's Open Charity Golf Day held at the fine parkland course at Tehidy on Sunday 17th May. It was a cloudy day with a fresh breeze and some sunny interludes.
The entries came from far and wide and included golfers from Roche Brass, St.Keverne Band, Pendennis and Camborne Town Band as well as Tehidy Park members and friends of the band.
The event was organised by band treasurer Marcus Dunstan, with help on the day from Matt Julian, Matt Brown and Tony Mansell.
The results were:
Mens Pairs (Better Ball Stableford with Full Handicaps) - 19 pairs
1st - James Sturges and Tony Carey - 45 points
2nd - Mike Jacka and Bobby Porter - 44 points
3rd - David Horne and Alan Martin - 43 points
Mixed Pairs (Better Ball Stableford with Full Handicaps) - 9 pairs
1st - Angela Anderson and Jim Dennis - 41 points, winning on count back
2nd - Rosemary Wedlock and Len Thorne - 41 points
3rd - Vicky Hart and Tom Benney - 40 points
Ladies Pairs (Better Ball Stableford with Full Handicaps) - 2 pairs
Winners - Lyn O'Keefe and Jenny Hamilton - 33 points
Runners up - Barbara Shaw and Ann Fitzhenry - 29 points
Longest drive (18th hole) - Tom Benney
Nearer the pin (7th hole) - Jerry Harvey
Putting competition - Steve Dawe
Two's - Bobby Porter (7th), James Sturges (7th and 17th)
Over 40 players stayed on to enjoy bar snacks whilst they awaited the
results. Thanks to everyone who took part and to the Management, Caterer and Staff of
the Tehidy Park Golf Club for allowing us to use their facilities.
